Defintion: Spyware

A technology that assists in gathering information about a person or organization without their knowledge. On the Internet, "spyware is programming that is put in someone's computer to secretly gather information about the user and relay it to advertisers or other interested parties." As such, spyware is cause for public concern about privacy on the Internet. 
 

Controlling Windows XP SP2 Firewall from Windows 2003 SBS using Group Policy

1. Install Update for W2k3 SBS: KB872769

2. Open MMC, add the "Group Policy Object Editor" to the "Standalone" Tab using "Group Policy Object:" of "Default Domain Policy"

3. Locate "Default Domain Policy" --> "Computer Configuration" --> "Administrive Templates" --> "Network" --> "Network Connections" --> "Windows Firewall" --> "Domain Proifle" --> "Windows Firewall: Define Port Exceptions"

4. Add an entry, eg: "80:TCP:*:enabled:WWW"
